UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun (Extended Preview)

If nothing else, you have to respect the UFC's skill and tenacity as promoters. We're still three weeks away from fight night, but they've already released a pretty bad-ass extended preview of UFC 104. It covers the main event of Lyoto Machida (15-0) vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (18-3), as well as the co-main event featuring Cain Velasquez (6-0) and Ben Rothwell (30-6).

For many UFC fans, this is their first look at Rothwell. He's best known for dominating his fellow heavyweights in the now-defunct IFL, where he went 9-0. His only loss since early 2005, a span which has seen him go 14-1, was a third round KO that he suffered against, former UFC heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski in 2008. Most often, though, it's Rothwell who shuts out the lights on his opponents. He's notched over twenty of this thirty victories with strikes (including four submissions by way of strikes), and has only won by decision two times. Those stats are insane.

When you consider that Rothwell is actually a heavy underdog at UFC 104, it should give you some idea of how highly the odds makers regard, the comparatively inexperienced, Cain Valasquez.
