Mir vs. Carwin For Interim Title Possible For UFC 111, March, 27th.

Just days after a dominant 72-second victory over Cheick Kongo, Frank Mir (13-4) has reportedly been approached to fight undefeated Shane Carwin (11-0 [pictured at left]) at UFC 111 on March 27th, 2010. The word also has it that this fight will be a five-round affair with an interim heavyweight title on the line. This has become a necessity as it appears that current HW champion Brock Lesnar, who nearly died recently from an advanced intestinal infection, will not be able to fight for at least the majority of 2010. Carwin was booked to face Lesnar at UFC 105 and has been patiently waiting for a new fight, until now.

Regardless of whether this fight is for an interim title or not, the winner will almost certainly face the winner of Cain Velasquez vs. "Minotauro" Nogueira who will square off at UFC 110. If Mir vs. Carwin is, indeed, for an interim title that would mean there will be two belts on the line at UFC 111, with Georges St-Pierre already scheduled to defend his welterweight title that night against Dan Hardy.
